ddc NYC
Full Strategy, Build and UX project using WordPress and WooCommerce
The Brief
ddc, or Domus Design Collection is the leading source of contemporary furniture design offering an exceptional variety of home and contract furniture, lighting and accessories, ranging in style from classic modern to the most cutting edge designs in their showrooms.
The brief to us was to take initial concept designs from ddc’s creative agency and propose a solution for the full build and migration to a new platform.
The aim was to build a website capable of eCommerce (B2B and B2C) but for initial launch to remain as a brochure and experience website.
Another challenge for us was to ensure we designed a clean and simple solution for taking product data from all of ddc’s global suppliers and enabling product creation within the system for speed and consistency.
The solution
After careful consideration our proposed solution was to use WordPress and WooCommerce. The reason for this is because it offered the right mix of eCommerce functionality for the immediate 2-3 years, while also allowing for huge flexibility in front end UX and Design.
Design and UX
Being a highly creative and design led company it was absolutely imperative that ddc’s vision for what the website should look like and behave was achieved.
Ability to import products
We built a customised product importer tool which enabled ddc’s team to send out templates to their suppliers to populate product data, this could then be easily imported into the admin and create and merchandise products automatically.
eCommerce ‘Ready’
Everything is ready to ‘turn on’ from a checkout and payments point of view, but for go-live the main objective is to drive enquiries to their showrooms and sales team.
Generate Leads
Across the site the main objective is to drive Enquiries, both via the product pages but also via the brand and news pages.
Tell the Brand Story
Via brand pages, news and articles talking about design and interiors.
The Results
Phase one of the launch was achieved on time and within budget, with the client incredibly happy with the project throughout. The go-live was seamless and the entire businesses is now looking forward to driving new visitors to their website – Which in the current climate is incredibly important as all the stores are still closed due to Covid-19.
